Our method leverages the changing acoustic tranfer function of a subject's tendon to assess relative tensions non-invasively. The novelty of this approach is that it is active: a Linear Resonance Actuator (LRA) injects an acoustic signal into the subject's tendon and measuring the reflected energy of the acoustic signal.
As part of this project, we developed a miniaturized, fully-wearable realization of this active approach (visible on the left).
